out of curiosity- what was your all time favorite scene to write in PS? What was your favorite sex scene?

I’m on a re-read right now, but the one I always go back to is when astarion feeds on the rabbit summoned by chatterteeth/tyrus. The spontaneity, the eagerness, the tyrus soft dom moment (or, astarion getting turned on by tyrus being commanding and powerful) It’s just perfect, imo.

I have to say, the true answer to this question is that I enjoyed too much of writing Perfect Slaughter to have a favorite. Plus it's so damn long!

But I'll mention the first scene that came to my head: the sequence starting from Astarion carrying Tyrus to the tomb, right up until Cazador pulls him out. While many of the seeds have already been sown towards Tyrus's corruption arc at that point, this year of darkness is what really starts to change his tune, and I remember working very hard on it but also really enjoying the process as I melded and twisted reality within Tyrus's mind. I came away from it understanding that writing a mental journey (in this case, a psychotic spiral) is more an art than a science, but a beautiful one! Haha and a terribly angsty one of course.

My other general contender is Tyrus reuniting with Cynda. The culmination of it all, the unconditional love from her and hope it restores in Tyrus about himself, writing out the words, "Now you've returned to me. Tyrus . . . do you think I care how?"---it was all just so damn cathartic. I cried right along with them!

My favorite sex scene? Definitely the first, again because of the culmination of it! So different from every forced encounter between them prior, so careful and yet so loving and communicative, super simplistic (and intentionally more realistic for that, or so I hope) in the execution of the act itself . . . I just loved being in Tyrus's head during that scene. While the rest are each beautiful in their own way, Tyrus's mind is progressively not in the greatest of places--neither is Astarion's, really--so this one stands out to me for being the most beautiful for its wholesomeness and lack of angst.

Gotta say, I almost entirely forgot about their little quickie after Astarion drinks the rabbit!! I think that must have been spontaneous on my end too, or at least I didn't have more than "they get intimate, but Tyrus accidentally touches the back scars" in my notes before I actually started writing 😂 I just reread it and damn, I can see why it's your fav! Such a healing moment after the horrors of ch30 💔

It amazes me that so many people have stuck around since PS's official conclusion. I can't thank you all enough, and I hope to have more stories (beyond the occasional Tystar drabbles of course) to share with you very soon 🩵🙏

love when men cry about body hair bc "it's hygiene" and yet 15% of cis men leave the bathroom without washing their hands at all and an additional 35% only just wet their hands without using soap. that is nearly half of all men. that means statistically you have probably shaken hands with or been in direct contact with one of these people.

love when men say that women "only want money" when it turns out that even in equal-earning homes, women are actually adding caregiver burdens and housework from previous years, whereas men have been expanding leisure time and hobbies. in equal-earning households, men spend an average of 3.5 hours extra in leisure time per week, which is 182 hours per year - a little over a week of paid vacation time that the other partner does not receive. kinda sounds like he wants her money.

love that men have decided women are frail and weak and annoying when we scream in surprise but it turns out it's actually women who are more reliable in an emergency because men need to be convinced to actually take action and respond to the threat. like, actually, for-real: men experience such a strong sense of pride about their pre-supposed abilities that it gets them and their families killed. they are so used to dismissing women that it literally kills them.

love it. told my father this and he said there's lies, damned lies, and statistics. a year ago i tried to get him to evacuate the house during a flash flood. he ignored me and got injured. he has told me, laughing, that he never washes his hands. he has said in the last week that women are just happier when we're cooking or cleaning.

maybe i'm overly nostalgic. but it didn't used to feel so fucking bleak. it used to feel like at least a little shameful to consider women to be sheep. it just feels like the earth is round and we are still having conversations about it being flat - except these conversations are about the most obvious forms of patriarchy. like, we know about this stuff. we've known since well before the 50's.

recently andrew tate tried to justify cheating on his partner as being the "male prerogative." i don't know what the prerogative for the rest of us would be. just sitting at home, watching the slow erosion of our humanity.

i finally hit 1k!!! (no thanks to tumblr glitching my follower count) i'm really glad so many people like the little images i make☺️ to say thank you i prepared a little something! i've put together all the overlays i have downloaded that i use in my gfx as well as the fonts i've collected over the past couple years (and an updated giffing "tutorial"!) love u all hope november is kind to you<33

for starters here is the mega folder with all of my fonts and pngs! below is my semi-updated giffing process along with some of my actions<3

my process is pretty much the same as my old tutorial but now i've changed how i export gifs! my basic process is outlined in the gif below and and i've added 3 of my actions i use almost every time i gif in this google drive! (explanations below) :]

so after i know what clip i want, i put it into vapoursynth (download tutorial) and once that's saved i screencap it. what i do for screencapping is open the mov in mplayer osx extended and hold down shift+command+s but i know there's way easier ways to do it that i haven't figured out yet lol (tutorial i just found here)

once the screencaps are all on my desktop i delete any extras on either end of the clip i want and put them in a folder just so it's easier to load them in to photoshop. to do that, on the home page of photoshop go to file -> scripts -> load files into stack, then from that menu browse -> select all the screencaps you want to use for the gif and click open then ok

after they're all loaded into photoshop this is where i use my first action which just shortcuts all the way to the sharpening being done. once that's done i go to image -> mode -> 16 bits/contrast. this can help if the background is super pixely or anything like that. then i mess around with sharpening if i feel like it's too much. usually i'll change the opacity of the second sharpen layer to 50 and/or change the settings of the first sharpen layer like 200 to 150 or 0.3 to 0.2, whatever i feel like looks best. something i've also learned over the years is that sometimes you let noise do the heavy lifting and don't worry about making it look too sharp. if the gif is still a little bit unsharpened (?), the noise will make it look fine

then i do coloring which is the fun part! like i said, my process is more or less the same as my old tutorial so i'll just skip over that part and if you want more details feel free to check that one out. once i'm done with that i combine it all to a smart object, add noise (usually 1-1.5 these days), and then use my second action!

after the second action does its thing, i select all frames and set the rate. i usually set it to 0.04 for youtube videos and 0.02 or 0.03 for ts files. then, because vs leaves me with duplicate frames, i run my action for duplicates which selects all of the unwanted frames and then go to the hamburger menu just above the timeline -> delete frames. then it's ready to be saved!

Hmmmm.... I don't really know if I think Light would ever be a serial killer without the notebook, tbh? The way he found the notebook and started using it, and then developed his reasons for doing so, and the specific way the notebook works, is so intricately tied into him becoming a murderer for me that it's just difficult for me to swap his methods or motives for anything else and still find it actually in-character for him.

I am not actually a plant person but we'll yes I have a fav flower, it's jasmine,,, we don't usually use jasmine, we say chambeli ka phool.... When I stayed at my grandma's at lengths as a child, she had a small garden and jasmine had the most dominant fragrance and really I wd just sit by it and bask in it's fragrance. It's also our national flower, but I got to know that way later:)

I'm currently rereading PS again. And I know it's not the most cruel thing Cazador has done to Astarion, far from it, but there is something really tragic in Astarion discussing literature and history with Tyrus in one chapter just to sit on Cazador's lap and play himbo in another - I meant the chapter with Tyrus' first ball.

There really is such tragedy to Astarion's story in this regard, isn't there? They didn't just make him some nobody before Cazador takes him; whatever family or upbringing he'd had, Astarion had risen up to being a magistrate before he reached 40, he'd had influence and power and clearly education to back that up. I think that is why he hungers for power more than the other spawn too--he simply had more to lose in this regard, and knows (on some level, amnesia or not) much better what they're missing out on than the other six.

I'd argue it's yet another reason Cazador singles Astarion out for humiliation, to point out his 'stupidity' and 'weakness' more than the rest.

Writing Perfect Slaughter, I decided to make it rarer than I originally had outlined for readers to see Astarion and Cazador interact, partly because that can make it more visceral for Tyrus/the readers to get to know Astarion's true, intelligent, educated self and then occasionally be slapped in the face with what Cazador reduces him to. Using harsh contrasts like that is just one of my favorite parts of storytelling! (Maybe also in part because it was just sad/depressing to write those scenes 😞💔)

looong story short she was your classic mgs child soldier with a streak of bad luck until she tried to KILL big boss in the late 1960s. she was one of the first poor bastards he took under his wing and following the dubiously canon events of the san hieronymo incident she became one of the original members of the foxhound unit: solitary shrike.

obviously that code name sucks ASS and honestly so did she; she was moody, rude, violent and didnt work well with others. absolutely no joy or whimsy until she met some british asshole named lance hewitt, codename bengal tiger, and got paired up with him. they proceeded to survive a catastrophic near death mission that changed the trajectories of their lives FOREVER on account of they emerged from it so ride or die for each other that they began matching each others freak to an inadvisable degree.

she changed her name (surprise her given name isnt cassandra. only 3 people in the whole world know what it used to be and im not one of those people) and her code name to reflect the "new her" she wanted to cultivate after facing death, branding herself "party rat." the goal? fill whatever life she had left with as much joy, love & fun as she possibly could. she was going to sing as loud as she wanted, dance as wild as she felt like, and finally stop holding herself back from fully connecting with the people around her. to solidify this, as well as to show her complete and utter over the top devotion to him, she took on lances last name, finally becoming the cassandra hewitt we all know + love

now a member of the MSF cass works as an engineer sergeant, chief mechanic, & generally invents a bunch of highly questionable weapons and machines. she also operates on the field as a demolitions expert for her squad, which grows to include an absolute dickhead named joaquin gutierrez, or mangey jackal. though she tries to embrace her new party spirit and the "peace and love" vibes of the time, he singles out bengal for some intensive one on one training and eventually pushes him to the point of breaking, making cass snap and quite literally bite his ear off. but like. he was fine. and everyone got better. and she taught him how to do the hustle as a peace offering. nothing a little disco cant fix.

back to the Plot: she eventually gets wrapped up in the creation of metal gear zeke, and was one of the weak points exploited by paz that allowed her to hijack it later on. she meets her canonical end during the ground zeroes incident, dying alone in the lower levels after sending her squadmates ahead to buy time. she blowed up </3

in alternate timelines where she survives she loses her left arm and occasionally her leg below the knee as well. as a sole survivor she becomes tangled in a web between big boss, zero, and cipher, creating a PMC of her own in order to pick up the pieces and continue the legacy left to her. she also begins raising the clone sons of her late best friend as her own but THATS neither here nor there <- dont even worry about it if the others survive she manages to slip from the attention of the higher ups and settles on creating a relief network with amanda valenciano libre, an old friend from her time in the msf. no matter what, cass maintains a stubborn belief that unless shes seen the bodies of her friends theyre still alive, which means she cant rest until shes found them. even if it takes Nine Years

different anon from the 'writer rant' one but it did bring up a topic i find fascinating in fandoms like this re: copaganda and the like. prefacing this by saying that i in no way support cops or think this is a realistic way of portraying them. with that in mind, i feel like there's this common hang up in series like twc where the MC is some sort of law enforcement equivalent - whether its an actual cop or some ancient/medieval/future/alternate universe equivalent - people get frustrated when you aren't able to rebel against that enough. and this isn't just a twc thing either, i've seen the same kind of points made for all kinds of IF games. and like, i get the desire to and how most people would make their OC's decent enough people to recognize that kind of corruption for what it is, but if you're signing on to be a character that by default is in a law enforcement/adjacent position, and has some sense of pride in it, i'm not sure how the author is expected to properly account for that perspective that completely opposes all that.

like, in twc the MC almost always willingly signs on to the force, and even in the 'do it or go to jail' origin they still take pride in being able to help people now despite the circumstances of them joining up - any option to be extraordinarily wary of the agency or cops in general contradicts that unchangeable part of the MC's backstory and identity. and i get your point about mish/ka making an idealistic utopic version of things, but i don't really know what else is to be expected in a series that's effectively set up to be a supernatural crime romance? i don't want to make it sound like the frustrations/concerns are invalid because they're not at all! but i feel like by now the role law enforcement and the like plays in the detective's life is so established people have to suspend some of their beliefs about it to play a series that's always had a pretty pro-law enforcement concept/theme. idk if that makes any sense but thanks for letting me ramble

i see what you mean and i agree w you to some degree, but also, like i don't think it's a lot to ask of mis/hka to both be critical of c*ps in the story while also allowing the mc to be critical of them too. my criticism is less that this is c*paganda, because yes, any media that humanizes c*ps functions as that, but regardless of that, there should be some level of scrutiny from mis/hka's end.

the point i'm making is that mis/hka could've made ab*se of power an overarching theme connecting humans and supernaturals alike, by leaning into the idea that "c*ps are corrupt, and so is the agency – no matter if you're human or supernatural, any structure meant to protect the people is going to be corrupt because people naturally ab*se power" but she's not doing that. i highly doubt that she's playing the long con.

she's teasing the idea that the mc can have thoughts about hating their job and their position, can be afraid of supernaturals, can be reluctant to join the agency – so, if mc is allowed to do that, then what's the point? is it leading to anything? is the agency corrupt? are the c*ps corrupt? from mis/hka's asks, she insists that the agency are good people (and by default the c*ps too). so then, 'why even give us this road if it's not leading anywhere?' is my question

like regardless of if she wants us to read this as a utopia, it's not. if mc shoots a du mortain, it's just "more paperwork" – don't really spend too much time thinking about the fact that what mc perceives to be is a human was shot by them. just as example. mc can literally choose in b3 to wipe bobby's brain – a c*p actively silencing a journalist (whoa we haven't seen that anywhere have we!). not to mention the like military grade stun volts that agents can just have and use on people. (also the t*rture.) i could go on forever but you get what i mean

again, i really do get what you're trying to say, but saying "this is c*paganda, what do you expect" and shutting down all discussion about expectations of the series isn't really the best way to approach it imo. you can and should examine media past the surface level thought of "this is c*paganda" – yes, we know that. you should counter with, and here's why! and as for what i expect – nuance. i expect a nuanced approach.

After I finish watching this show I’m on (8/11 seasons, though I may stop after season 10) my plan is to rewatch all of Bridgerton paying close attention to pen and Colin. I’m hoping that my rewatch will line up with part 2 of season 3!

I really hope you’re rewatch lines up with when part of s3 comes out. I’m also trying to figure out when I should start my Bridgerton rewatch. Bc my friend recommended I do something when it comes to the polin scenes. And imma recommend to you as well, bc I did it for their 1x01 scenes, their first kiss and the carriage scene.
